Here are a few experiments for class.
Have students roll 2 dice. Add them. Collect a lot of data. Chart the results. Discuss the experimental results versus the theoretical results. (See the calculator simulator.)
Have students run around the school track. Have them take their heart rate afterwards as a function of time. Chart the results. Model the data using transformations.
Bring in bags of Chips Ahoy cookies (with milk, of course). Have students painstakingly count every chocolate chip in each cookie that they eat. Gather the class data. Chart the results. Talk about standard deviation and answer the burning question "Are there really 1000 chips in each bag?"
Using the CBL, drop, jettison, or throw any object of your choosing. Collect the data. Model it with the physics equations. Compare and contrast results.
Do the stock market experiment. "Issue" each student $10,000 for buying the stock(s) of their choice. "Charge" $30/trade. Chart the results for the whole year. Students will volunteer to do all of the work for this one.
